While Focused on Socialized Medicine,Al Gore Builds Grassroots Army for Cap-N-Trade

Keep your friends close but your enemies closer..Sun Tzu (400 B.C.), author of On the Art of War

Its natural that most people tend to socialize and build alliances and coalitions with those who have similiar views with their own. However, when fighting a war, and make no doubt, we are in a war with those who wish to replace our Republic with another form of government that is the antheisis of a Democratic Republic, we need to know the enemey.

We need to be monitoring ,as unplesant as it can be, reading what they read, watching their blogs, groups, following them on social networking sites, like Twitter etc, so that we may be better equipped for the battle.

In that vein and with a little help from my friend Eileen,... "Just a heads up -- maybe you know this, but Al Gore's political committee for climate change has a VERY organized effort going on right now at the grassroots level state by state, including hiring field staff (I met one of them) for Cong. Districts to find volunteers/writers, etc. to push the Senate to vote on Cap and Trade in September. (Gore’s two groups—the Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate Project—are putting thousands of “boots on the ground” in key congressional districts around the country to help build momentum for climate legislation.

In order to win this struggle, we have to go to the constituents of the Congress,” Gore told Grist recently. “Just laying the facts on the table and playing an inside-the-Beltway game is not going to do it on this issue. We have to win the feelings and opinions of voters in the country as a whole ... We have to go to the grassroots.”)

We never know when that vote will get pushed in light of the health care issue--but the fact that GORE is this organized tells me they may try and push it through... you have a great grassroots networks so I wanted you to be aware ---

Wouldn't it be just like Obama to push this while everyone else is focused on the Healthcare debate..."

Yes Eileen, it certainly would!

The phasing out the use of traditional, incandescent light bulbs in favor of CFLs beginning in 2012 and culminating in a ban on incandescent bulbs in 2014, was included in Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 the purpose is “to move the United States toward greater energy independence and security, to increase the production of clean renewable fuels, to protect consumers, to increase the efficiency of products, buildings, and vehicles, to promote research on and deploy greenhouse gas capture and storage options…"

Congresswoman Michele Bachman of Minnesota
was ahead of the curve when she introduced in 3/13/2008 (110th Congress) the aptly named “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act H.R. 5616 [110th]which had 24 co-sponsers.

"Most Americans, if you ask them, have no idea that the government has already made a choice for them," Bachmann said in a televised MSNBC interview. "The government has substituted its choice for the American consumer's choice. Most Americans have no idea they won't be able to choose their own light bulbs."

Of course it was assigned to committee where lots of introduced bills go to die:Latest Major Action: 3/14/2008 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality.

Resurrect the “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act H.R. 5616!

HR 2454 / 2998 List and Links of Summaries and Analysis Cap-N-Trade

Right after the 300 page amendment that was slipped in the bill in the early morning hours of Friday the same day the Cap-n-Trade was voted on and passed, I spend some time with a group of tea party organizers and grassroots activists from across the country.

We decided to divide up 300 page amendment into sections for each person to read. Each person would give give an analysis of the section they read and that analysis would be complied by my friend and Lincoln,NE tea party organizer, Shelli Dawdy. Shelli along with being a tea party organizer is a conservative blogger, wife and home schools her children, so you could rightly say, she is one busy gal!
So Shelli is in the process of compiling the received analysis into one post and I will post it here as soon as I receive it from her

In the mean time the link is to some recent Summaries and Analysis HR 2454 / 2998 List and Links of Summaries and Analyses

Cap & Trade HR 2454 (2998) TARGET: 300 Pages & The Senate

Last week, a number of Tea Party organizers and grassroots leaders from various states participated in a conference call and worked together to compile information quickly to deal with the rather surprising news that the Cap & Trade bill, previously thought to be indefinitely stalled, was going to the House floor for a vote.

We were able to get information out through a lot of information quickly. It is more than unfortunate that the bill did pass, but all the efforts across the country appeared to have some impact; clearly some members of Congress felt the heat; the vote was closer than expected.....The rest of article about the call we convened and the bill is on my friend, Shelli Dawdy's blog Facts are Stubborn Things 1776
