NO COMPROMISE! South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson called Obama out on his lies.

And Congressman Joe Wilson was right...

Congressional Research Service: ObamaCare will cover illegal immigrants

Unfortunately the GOP answer is not to kill the Bill but to continue government involvement, abet with their plan!

I just received this e-mail from our "dear leader" His statement, "And I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last." is the gauntlet thrown down

Obama for America
Friend --

I just finished laying out my plan for health reform at a joint session of Congress. Now, I'm writing directly to you because what happens next is critical -- and I need your help.

Change this big will not happen because I ask for it. It can only come when the nation demands it. Congress knows where I stand. Now they need to hear from you.

Add your voice: Ask your representatives to support my plan for real health reform in 2009.

The heart of my plan is simple: bring stability and security to Americans who already have health insurance, guarantee affordable coverage for those who don't, and rein in the cost of health care.

Tonight, I offered a specific plan for how to make it happen. I incorporated the best ideas from Democrats and Republicans to create a plan that's bold, practical, and represents the broad consensus of the American people.

We've come closer to real health reform in the last few months than we have in the last 60 years. But those who profit from the status quo -- and those who put partisan advantage above all else -- will fight us every inch of the way.

We do not seek that fight, but we will not shrink from it. The stakes are too high to let scare tactics cloud the debate, or to allow partisan bickering to block the path. Your voice, right now, is essential.

See my full plan and call on your representatives to support it:

Ours is not the first generation to understand the dire need for health reform. And I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last.

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

FROM WHOEVER:

"does anyone ever comment on your blog?

I came across you googling "what the hell is wrong with the republican party?" and have to say you might just be the answer."

FROM APACKOF2:

First off since I am the owner of this blog I get to decide which comments I allow. The government doesn’t control it…yet

Second you are laboring under a delusion…I am NOT a Republican…never have been and DO NOT belong to any party I am an independent Constitutional Social Conservative…both parties are broken…..the answer lies in a return to that Constitution and our form of government, Representative Republic…..the socialist/fascists government control ideology of the current administration is nothing more than a non-violent over throw of our Republic and it will be met with the same resistance by those who know the Constitution, as if a foreign country had invaded our shores…

No matter what he thought, Joe Wilson's reaction was completely unacceptable.

Like it or not, Barack Obama is the democratically elected President of the United States. That is an office that deserves respect, and the idea that a member of congress would yell out "YOU LIE!" during a joint session is mind boggling.

Verbal insults, cat calling, or interrupting the President of the United States during a highly ritualized and highly important aspect of our government is wrong. This is not like booing him during a speech or rally.

I maintain that ALL presidents should be treated with the respect that their title confers on them. For example, I really truly disliked George W. Bush as President. I thought he helped run our economy into the ground and seemingly lacked the intelligence necessary to aptly deal with being the POTUS. Not to mention I disagreed with his social politics on a very fundamental level. HOWEVER, I would never have condoned a democrat rep. shouting at him during a joint session of congress. I didn't go around saying things like, "He's not MY president!" Because he was elected (twice, to my dismay, believe me) as President and as such deserved the same respect any president deserves.

"You lie!" Was highly inappropriate in that situation -- and, ironically, very reminiscent of the parliamentary shouting found in Britain and many other West European countries. Countries that many conservatives would be quick to label "socialist".

Annie,

I agree his spontaneous outburst was inappropriate and he has apologized for it, however he IS right, Obama was not telling the truth and that is more egregious, the President of the United States lying to the citizens of this country to further his agenda

A nonpartisan Congressional Research Service study found that the House health care bill at that moment did not restrict illegal immigrants from receiving health care coverage.

"There were two opportunities for House Democrats to make clear that illegal immigrants wouldn't be covered by putting in requirements to show citizenships," House Minority Leader John Boehner said. "Both of those amendments were, in fact, rejected."

For his efforts, Joe Wilson has been subject to a barrage of ad hominem attacks. MSNBC's David Shuster, for example, reminded his viewers of "the fact that Joe Wilson is from South Carolina," which raised "the idea that maybe there was some sort of racist or bigoted element there."

Then there was Chris Matthews, also of MSNBC, saying Wilson's opposition to the president is based on "who he is, where he comes from, his background."

MSNBC, of course, is the network that tried to portray town hall protesters as white racists by using a doctored video showing a man "packing heat" outside an event where the president was speaking but edited in such a way as to conceal the fact that the man was actually African-American.

Over a screen banner asking "Motivated By Race?" CNN anchor Don Lemon previewed his 7 p.m. program Saturday night by citing Wilson, "town hallers yelling at lawmakers" and those "refusing to let kids hear the commander in chief. And on and on and on." The sour Lemon ended his tease: "What's behind it? Is it racial?"

Arguably the patron saint of unglued rhetoric, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, wrote in her recent screed: "Some people just can't believe a black man is president and will never accept it."

We accept it, Maureen, and Joe Wilson does too.

What we cannot accept is the hypocrisy of those who cheered when moans and groans were directed at President George W. Bush during his speeches to Congress or when he had to dodge shoes tossed his way.

Politics, as they say, ain't beanbag. Joe Wilson, were he a member of the British Parliament chastising the prime minister face-to-face, would barely get noticed.
